WSO Condemns Vandalism of Saguenay Mosque

Ottawa (September 3, 2103):  The World Sikh Organization of Canada condemns the vandalism of a Quebec mosque over the weekend.  According to reports, a Saguenay mosque was sprayed with what is suspected to be pig’s blood and a letter was left telling worshippers to “assimilate or go home”

This act of vandalism has occurred at a time when Quebec is embroiled in debate over the accommodation of religious minorities and a proposed “Charter of Quebec Values.”

WSO President Prem Singh Vinning said, “we stand in solidarity with the Muslim community and all Canadians in condemning this repulsive act.  Such intolerance cannot be tolerated and must be nipped in the bud. Those responsible must be apprehended and charged appropriately.”

The World Sikh Organization of Canada (WSO) is a non-profit organization with a mandate to promote and protect the interests of Canadian Sikhs as well as to promote and advocate for the protection of human rights for all individuals, irrespective of race, religion, gender, ethnicity, and social and economic status.
