LOCATION: Remote Role. Must reside in Canada

 

JOB TYPE: Full-time. 40 hours per week. 

 

ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW:

The World Sikh Organization of Canada, founded in 1984, is the only national Sikh advocacy and human rights organization in Canada. The organization works to assist Sikhs in Canada and around the world with accommodation issues related to their faith. In addition, the organization has developed programming and services to address the specific needs of the Sikh community including the Sikh Mentorship Program, the Sikh Youth Leadership Institute and the Sikh Family Helpline. 

 

We are seeking a creative and talented individual to join our team as a Social Media and Graphic Design Coordinator. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our online presence, brand development, and overall marketing strategy.

 

Key responsibilities include: 

GRAPHIC DESIGN:

  • Design visually appealing graphics for social media posts, marketing materials, and other digital platforms.
  • Develop and maintain a consistent visual identity and brand aesthetic across all channels.
  • Collaborate with the internal team to create eye-catching visuals that align with marketing goals.

 

SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGEMENT:

  • Solely responsible for uploading and maintaining all social media platforms.
  • Develop and implement social media strategies to enhance brand visibility and engagement.
  • Create, curate, and schedule engaging content across various platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Monitor and analyze social media metrics to measure the success of campaigns and make data-driven recommendations.

 

CONTENT CREATION:

  • Produce multimedia content, including but not limited to images, infographics, and short videos.
  • Organize and edit monthly podcasts.
  • Edit and enhance photos and videos to optimize for various platforms and campaigns.
  • Stay up-to-date with design trends and social media best practices.

 

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT:

  • Monitor and engage with the online community, responding to comments, messages, and mentions.
  • Foster relationships with influencers, partners, and followers to expand the brand's reach.
  • Assist with media and social media monitoring to ensure that the board is well informed on relevant issues in Canada and around the world. 

 

SUPPORT COMMUNICATIONS:

  • Research and write content for internal and external audiences.
  • Support development of presentation and promotional materials.
  • Develop and oversee email marketing campaigns including drafting emails and sending via Mailchimp. 
  • Other duties as assigned by the Board.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree/diploma in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in social media management and graphic design.
  • Proficient in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva etc.).
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and trends.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Punjabi and/or French is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work remotely in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Creative thinking and a keen eye for design aesthetics.
  • Knowledge of SEO and digital marketing trends is a plus.
  • Proficient in Mailchimp.
  • Flexibility with work schedule to allow for some meetings and tasks that may be held outside of normal working hours (early mornings, evenings and weekends).

 

NOTE:

  • Individual can be based anywhere within Canada and will be required to work remotely.
  • Only individuals that are residents of Canada and able to work full time should apply.
  • Salary range ($25-$29/hr) based on experience and other qualifications.
