Community Outreach & Programs Coordinator

Your Key Roles Include:

Support Implementation of Existing Programs

  1. Program Delivery
    • Overseeing the delivery of signature programming for the World Sikh Organization of Canada and the World Sikh Organization of Canada Charitable Trust, including but not limited to Sikh Mentorship Program, Sikh Youth Leadership Institute, Sikh Family Helpline and Kaur Votes. This includes:
      • Working closely with the National Board, Regional Teams, Project Leads, and volunteers.
      • Working in partnership with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator to ensure that programs have innovative and efficient social media campaigns and promotional material.
      • Ensuring programs are developed and delivered in scope, on time, and budget.
  2. Stakeholder Management
    • Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and partner organizations to advance the mission and priorities of WSO.
    • Coordinating tasks and managing progress and maintaining constant communication with stakeholders and partners.
  3. Event Coordination
    • Working closely with Regional Presidents & Vice Presidents to coordinate local events.
    • Working with the Marketing and Communications coordinator to develop and disseminate promotional materials in a timely and effective manner.
  4. Program Management
    • Maintaining records of projects completed to ensure future success.
    • Establishing administrative policies and procedures for all functions and for the day-to-day operations of the non-profit and charity.
    • Identify and schedule project deliverables, milestones and required activities and tasks.
    • Ongoing benchmarking of project performance to identify improvements
    • Leading continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Support Development of New Programs

  1. Identifying new programming opportunities for the organization that align with WSO’s values, scope and mandate and advance organization’s priorities.
  2. Identifying new stakeholders and partner organizations to support the development of new projects and initiatives.

Outreach & Engagement

  1. Participate in, and support, local community events.
  2. Connecting with relevant stakeholders (community partners, colleges etc.) to further WSO’s work/presence in the community.
  3. Identifying collaboration opportunities with community agencies.
  4. Network with external sources by attending conferences and symposiums.

Grants Coordination

  1. Responsible for searching and recommending grants.
  2. Writing & submitting grant applications.
  3. Managing reporting requirements for approved grants.

The ideal candidate will have:

  1. Excellent project management and time management skills.
  2. Strong organization abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation.
  3. Demonstrate creativity and initiative to suggest improvements and encouraging positive results.
  4. Proactive and self-starter.
  5. Flexibility with work schedule to allow for some meetings and tasks that may be held outside of normal working hours (early mornings, evenings, and weekends).
  6. Strong interpersonal relationship skills, including partnership development, stakeholder management.
  7. Proficiency in Punjabi and/or French is considered an asset but not required for the position.
  8. Previous grant writing experience is an asset. 

Note:

  1. Individual can be based anywhere within Canada, working remotely
  2. Individual must be legally allowed to work in Canada
  3. Only individuals that are residents of Canada should apply
  4. Salary range ($24-$29/hr) based on experience and other qualifications
