In 2023, the WSO and the National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM) published a report exposing the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) network in Canada. The RSS is one of the most powerful non-governmental groups in the world, founded in 1925 with the expressed goal of reshaping India into a country run by and for its Hindu majority. India’s ruling BJP party is a member of RSS’s family of organizations or “Sangh Pariwar”.
The RSS’s far-right ideology of “Hindu nationalism,” otherwise called ‘Hindutva’, has the primary purpose of establishing a Hindu Rashtra, or a Hindu State. The report traces RSS-affiliated groups in Canada and the infiltration and interference of the RSS and its intolerant ideology in Canadian politics, institutions and society.
