Wishing You A Happy Sikh New Year (Nanakshahi)

On behalf of WSO Canada, we wish you a happy Sikh new year (Nanakshahi).  It has been our pleasure to serve you for the last 28 years.  We are excited about the coming year as our desire for service has resulted in the development of our  "SEVA for ALL" initiative.

“SEVA for ALL” is a nation-wide initiative involving a diverse network of volunteers and organizations united in the belief that community is built through small acts of compassion, courage and service.  Through grassroots mobilizing, creative intergenerational collaboration, and inspiring acts of service we build capacity to transform our communities and society.

 Please join us in April for our  "SEVA for ALL Baby Drive".  April is a time of renewal, transformation and new beginnings for many Canadians, including Sikhs as we celebrate the birth of the Khalsa.  In this spirit, WSO Canada is inviting communities across Canada to help ensure our most youngest and vulnerable experience a thriving beginning. 

 As proper nutrition is essential for a child’s first year of life, the "SEVA for ALL Baby Drive" will engage community partners to collect needed items as specified by local food banks.  The drive will run from the beginning of April till April 28th, 2013. 

 Today, March 14, 2013 WSO Canada is also marking Sikh Environment Day, an initiative started by EcoSikh.  EcoSikh has developed great toolkits to help the Sikh community raise environmental awareness.  Included in the EcoSikh Toolkit are English and Punjabi resources such as:

• Sikh Environment Day Guide
• PowerPoint Presentation
• Booklet with 30 Gurbani Shabads that can be sung
• 10 minute eco-assembly
• Ideas on student participation in classrooms
• Pledge form, flyers and posters

 2013 is a year of exciting initiatives for WSO Canada.  We are looking forward to working with you in the coming  year.
